White Opal

White or Light Opal

White opal, also called light opal, is found mainly at Coober Pedy and Mintabie in South Australia. It is so called because of its white, cream-coloured, or light coloured background.

Although known as being the cheapest variety of opal, sometimes quality white opal will sell for more than black, boulder and crystal.
